Labor Studies Virtual Welcome 2020

Labor Studies Virtual Welcome 2020

By Vanessa Codilla

On Tuesday, September 29, the UCLA Labor Studies interdepartmental program held a virtual welcome event through Zoom, welcoming new and returning students to the 2020-2021 academic year. The event kicked off with introductions from Labor Studies chair Tobias Higbie and staff, as well as a brief informational session about the undergraduate program. Three alumni speakers (Mayte Ipatzi, ‘20; Trisha Makhija, ‘20; and Lena Wang, ‘19) then shared their experience in the program and current career paths. The event culminated in Zoom breakout sessions, where students placed into smaller groups had the chance to mingle with peers and learn about different ways to connect with the Labor Studies community throughout the academic year.
